DESIGN | Would The #PuffSnoopMSG Show Be More Important If It Lacked Social Media?

This goes back to my feature about really enjoying a show with a phone in your hand; can you? Yes, but in moderation. But last night marked a huge moment in not only Hip Hop history but digital history. The #PuffSnoopMSG merged what was known as the "East Coast vs West Coast" beef (via media) to the ultimate peace if you didn't know that there really wasn't any beef in the first place. It began with Suge Knight's infamous, "Any artist out there, want to be an artist" rant to the biggest hits of 1993-2014. Wow that is a long time.

Notorious B.I.G. would be proud.

What seemed like an intermission was really full of more hits from Puff Daddy's name change allegiance song, DIDDY to Snoop's Ain't No Fun it seemed as if there was no time to sit down. Also, make note that the "friends" were Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, Big Sean, French Montana, Remy Ma, Keyshia Cole, Nas, Kurupt, Dr. Dre, 112, Lil' Kim, Faith Evans, The LOX, and more that we may not have seen if we were watching the live stream via Revolt TV and Revolt.tv.

It Brought About The Question...

Would this event be as important if it didn't go through the social media channels?

The answer is a mixture of YES and YES. It fused technology, by showing a live concert on television and the internet with social media via hashtags. Not only were people able to engage from every corner of the earth with internet, but people that were actually in attendance at MSG were also able to interact.

The only question now is, "Is Being In Attendance via LiveStream as Engaging as Being at The Actual Show?"

What do you think?
