BUSINESS: Maison Kitsune, From Record Label To Clothing Label

The mash up of fashion and music is not anything new, in fact it's all the norm nowadays. We've seen it here in the states, from the pioneer labels like Def Jam with Russell Simmons' Phat Farm, Rocafella's Rocawear, Bad Boy Ent.'s Sean John to A$AP Mob's various collaborations. Recording artists make it known, they are more than just creative forces of nature but expand upon their branding. As I was doing a little bit of reading and research, I ran across Maison Kitsuné. I was already familiar with the brand through various ad campaigns in New York, but I didn't know much else about the brand.

Perusing the digital pages, I found that not only was the Parisian brand a clothing label with flagships in Tokyo, New York and more coming, but it was a music label. They held their first fashion show during New York Fashion Week this past September with great results.

WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

It's nothing new and again like my fellow Aries Pharrell said, YOU CAN DO IT TOO. It's really cool because you can see the international growth of music and fashion as a couple.
