EyePissGlitter F/W 2012 New York Fashion Week Awards!
The week is almost over. After all the shows, presentations and photographs we can come to some conclusion of what we’ll be rocking this time next year. I’m highly estatic about spring and summer The Season of the Maxi and Cut Out Dress! But before we get there, let’s pass out some awards for the best and brightest of the Fall Winter 2012 Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week.
*Most Casual & Something We Can All Wear Award*
Levis Made & Crafted
For the first time, Levis mostly known for their denim, presented a show this week in Soho during fashion week. Full of casual denim wear, colorful patterns and loose fits, for the first show of their new global campaign it wasn’t bad at all. My favorite look is above. The dark light denim with a high waist pant (which always wins in my book) with a loose bottom is great for the spring season even. They also featured looks for both women and men!
*Tacky But Entertaining Show Award*
Betsey Johnson
This was the most entertaining show of the week (not including the one I’m attending Sunday)! Although the attire was tacky and a “I feel like I saw this already” the ending split made it seem a little bit better. Full of tulle skirts, bright pinks and yellows, I kept thinking was it the spring line? But it wasn’t. The line was more for teens and high school students entering college that haven’t heard the name Sallie Mae just yet.
*Minimalism With Concentration On FUNctionality Award*
Lela Rose
The one thing that definitely sticks out with the Lela Rose collection is her background in architecture. Everything in the collection seemed to be very geometric yet it still gave a womanly silhouette. Also what stood out was the mixture of blues and oranges (I quickly thought, yes NY Knicks) which are precisely the go to colors for next fall. But I will definitely be rocking those colors in the spring as well. Plenty of dresses for fun and plenty of outwear for functionality every piece served its purpose. I hear the influence for the collection this year was Lela’s recent visit to Texas…I don’t see it though:-? Also the collection included various metal like colors, but of course the above photo was my favorite look of them all.
*It’s Good If You’re Into That Kind of Music During a Show Award*
Rachel Comey
Live performance by Vorhees conducted the runway with her one band lady sounds on the mic and guitar. Known for touring with artists like M.I.A., MGMT and Cat Power, as engineer she was the second focal point of the night. My favorite (above) was the most color of the night. The Rachel Comey line went for a more minimal appeal this season. I enjoyed the experience as well as the clothing. The music…it was nice if you’re into that kind of thing:)
