#blkcreatives Happy Hour In Houston | Find Out What Made It So Special via @bornceo & @mike_mogul

There's so much going on in the world, especially events where millennials can mingle, network and express themselves. It just so happens, the go to online hub for Black creatives, BlkCreatives is starting a series of happenings that combine all of that in the physical environment. For its first installment they took the Happy Hour to Houston. I got the scoop from Monica of Born Identity Project on just how it went. She and Mike hosted the event that from the photos, looks like an amazing turn out. But I needed the real deal...what made it so special. Check it out straight from the source.

Hosting the blkcreatives HH kick-off meant a lot for the city of Houston as the 4th largest city in the US too often do we get overlooked for our creative ability and talent.

Hosting the mixer was also a great way to for me personally to build my professional network with like minded creatives who share in the pursuit of greatness.

The #blkcreatives HH also provided another opportunity to help a friend and business peer bring their vision to reality. Being able to support the founder of #BlkCreatives and push her brand forward in a new market was a honor.

Simply being able to have open dialogue and connect with people who are equally inspiring was a breath of fresh air.

Stay tuned for more as Washington D.C. just had one and I hear, Nashville is on the way.

#eyePISSGLITTER | @HeyEryka Tells Us What Made @chancetherapper's Magnificent Coloring Day

You can't deny that there are so many new festivals popping up! This year alone has brought millions of people out from January 2016 to now. We've been to Bonnaroo, Coachella, Made In America, Bumbershoot, Burning Man, Life Is Good and more; this time I got with another fellow festival lover, Eryka! She recently attended Chance The Rapper's Magnificent Coloring Day in Chicago, Illinois. I so wanted to go but I attended a festival of love better known as Chris & Melody's wedding!!! (It was so beautiful by the way).

So, since I'm sure I'm not the only one who missed out, Eryka gave us a little bit to hopefully look forward to next year.

  • Chance being Chance and wonderful. It's amazing seeing how far he's come and that he's able to do this for his city
  • A dope ass line up and surprise guests that LITERALLY kept you on your feet
  • Listening to a FULL stadium singing in unison
  • Experiencing it with friends who know when you say you're going to Chicago for Chance they know you'll do it whether or not somebody is with you so they tag along for the ride!

Are you hitting up any cool festivals or events and want to share how much fun you had? Be sure to email me & let me know.

eyeADVENTURE | #PartyOnABike Was Just That In Phoenix

It's no secret that one of my favorite cities on the planet is Phoenix, Arizona! Although it's been two years since I lived here and have been back I still don't know all of the "poppin" things to do.  What I do know is, Health is Wealth and when you're in the company of great people (in this case, my sisters Asia, Krishna, Kenya & Fatima) you can't not have a great time.

This trip took us to #PartyOnABike aka spin class. I've been before, not to this particular one but I do remember I was starving afterwards.

This was a great experience, minus my butt hurting which is probably a good thing it was LIT. Our spin class instructor Brynn had a dope playlist, great energy and was super supportive. So if you have no idea where to start for fun in Phoenix of any city rather, start with a good exercise class. You can't go wrong when it comes to getting your body right.

LIFE | I Met God Yesterday...

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of a Grandpa; yearning to share his wisdom, but also take on the role of a student. He showed me that opportunity is always around us and "it's up to you to take advantage of it," he said.

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of good eye contact and willingness to listen and let the conversation flow. It showed me that I'm where I'm supposed to be without a doubt.

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of a song. I'm always thinking of my MAMA. I find myself randomly giggling or crying because I miss her juicy hugs. I decided to skip right to Rick Ross' Smile Mama, Smile for obvious reasons (I usually play an album all the way through before skimming to my favorites). As soon as the beat dropped and Ceelo started singing, I felt joy, sadness and warmth all at the same time. But it felt like Ceelo was singing for my heart and my MAMA. It is beautiful.

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of a vivid memory of a picture. My MAMA was so excited for me because she saw a copy of The Source Magazine (my dream since 4th grade to write for/my article was printed). She took a picture of herself (FACIE) holding the copy smiling and texted, "Look what I got." That is forever imprinted in my mind.

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of a feeling. I went to bed feeling confident, warm (yes the heat is on) and safe.

This is not to say I won't ever be sad again or have my moments. It's just nice to feel connected with something bigger than yourself. It felt so good that I woke up thinking I was dreaming.

Thank you God for my MAMA GRANDPA AUNT all have forever changed my life.
