#eyePISSGLITTER | Nashville's Retrograde & Oktoberfest With Adventure Seeker Orlando

Another great weekend in Nashville, included music, art and a festival of beer because, why not? I wasn't able to catch the fun times, but fellow adventure seeker, Orlando made his rounds at both Retrograde and Oktoberfest. Check out the four things that made each event pop!

IMG_6638.JPG

Retrograde

The Diddy Bop/Missy Elliot room. There was the room near the entrance of the venue that reminded me of a Missy Elliot or old Diddy and Mase video. Small room with parallel neons lights all around changing colors. Definitely my favorite part of the night.

FullSizeRender.jpg

The constant feed cameras. They were recording all night and playing back and mixing footage from earlier in the night with footage from later. It was a dope room. Three older cameras and had this almost eery feel to it.

Seeing Kiya Lacey perform. I feel like I'm seeing her perform all the time but I never get tired of it.

The people. Such a diverse crowd came out. I love how the music scene in Nashville brings out all kinds of people. It's a beautiful thing.

Oktoberfest

The food. There was food everywhere. I'm a chubby kid on the inside so food is always on my mind and there was so much to choose from.

Dogs. Everybody brought their dogs out to the event and I loved it.

FullSizeRender.jpg

Beer. Living in Nashville has made me appreciate a good beer. I feel like everywhere I go sells craft beer so now I have a taste for it and actually appreciate that taste instead of just drinking socially

There was this one vendor selling the softest Aztec covers and throws. Like the softest thing I ever felt in my life. Literally like laying on a cloud.

#eyePISSGLITTER | Cultural Festival Yoga On A Rooftop & More In Nashville This Weekend

So as I look around, I'm finding more and more exciting things to do in Nashville. If I can't be at everything, I'm sure someone I know will be. If you're in the area and looking for something to do this weekend before you get ready for the Beyonce concert on Sunday, check out a few activities that you and a few friends would enjoy. And tell them they've been EYEPISSGLITTER Certified!

Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival

FullSizeRender.jpg

Food. Ok, there's more than food it's actually a great event to bring your kids, little cousins, or some children you know. If you decide not to, it's extra fun, food from every culture you can think of, art, performances and a park of love and people sharing and caring for their culture. It takes place at Centennial Park, Saturday 10AM-6PM.

Rooftop Yoga...Oh Yeah It's Free

And it just so happens to be the last one, since it is getting cold. I'm so sad I'm late finding out about this. But if you're lucky enough to RSVP and attend, have fun for me. It's at ACME, so you know it's going to be fun and they have drink specials!

Yes, an entire festival of whiskey. Stay calm and say hydrated. There will be more than 60 whiskey producers and actual seminars to check out. Knowledge is power and if you want to know more about how it's made and the tastes, you should definitely go. Also, there will be a cigar bar, grown and sexy! Tickets are $100 VIP $150

Saturday, October 1 6:30PM-10:00PM

Beats & Brushes

FullSizeRender.jpg

I never get to go to any of the cool stuff, nope, just playing. But I have yet to attend the Beats & Brushes event. As we step into the cold crispy weather and get ready for a spooky Halloween, why not have some fun in the art realm. For this installment of Beats & Brushes they chose to do a tribute to Michael Jackson's Thriller. This should be really fun. More info here

Homemade & Bound Nashville Festival

If you love Zines, independent published books, mini-comics and prints, this is the place for you this weekend. Watkins Community Education is a sponsor, so you know it's going to be full of great art! Local artists present their work via the series Stitches + Stories which showcase handmade books inspired by the healing power of art and storytelling. Sounds dope right. So go!

#eyePISSGLITTER | Mouth Adventure | Five Nashville Foodie Hot Spots

As the seasons begin to change so do our tastebuds, in this case it was only right to get a nice list started for some must stop spots. This time around, we're taking a trip to the Music City capital, Nashville, Tennessee. With so many new restaurants opening it may seem hard to keep up, but that's why you have EYEPISSGLITTER as your friendly guide. Now don't get sad if you don't see your favorite restaurant yet, believe me there are plenty of categories we have coming up, plus we'll sit directly with the owners to see what's best.

Check out our ver first Mouth Adventure of five Nashville spots you want to check out...NOW!

FIVE DAUGHTERS BAKERY - 12 South

I want everything.

I want everything.

Heard to be on of Nashville’s youngest fresh made to order bakery. This is a family owned bakery where it doesn’t use any GMO, chemical preservatives, hydro oils, or any artificial colors and flavors. It has been the talk in some of my Group Me with young alumni/professionals.

SAINT ANEJO - The Gulch

The mimosas though.

The mimosas though.

Nice laid back Mexican Cuisine. Includes top shelf/premium tequila. They have happy hour on select days. Also they have a lovely balcony/patio if you ever want to cool out after a long day of work.

PRINCE'S HOT CHICKEN - Ewing Lane & Murfreesboro Road

Tasty fire in my mouth.

Tasty fire in my mouth.

The FIRST Nashville Hot chicken joint. You can go to this place for lunch, dinner, or after the club. The one on Ewing Lane stays open until about 1 am. You will not be disappointed. If you are a lover of REAL hot chicken look no further.

CLYDE'S - Church Street

I beat everyone in UNO here.

I beat everyone in UNO here.

Newly opened sports bar theme. When I say sports bar I am meaning ping pong tables and other game stations. It is a laid back vibe, not too loud or not too quiet. They have a wonderful food menu. It is jumping during happy hour or on Friday or Saturday nights.

FIVE POINTS PIZZA - 5 Points

After The Set.

After The Set.

Located in the heart of 5 points, here is a pizza place that you must try. Handmade from scratch pizza. It is made to order. SO you will not be disappointed.

#eyePISSGLITTER | @HeyEryka Tells Us What Made @chancetherapper's Magnificent Coloring Day

IMG_6256.JPG

You can't deny that there are so many new festivals popping up! This year alone has brought millions of people out from January 2016 to now. We've been to Bonnaroo, Coachella, Made In America, Bumbershoot, Burning Man, Life Is Good and more; this time I got with another fellow festival lover, Eryka! She recently attended Chance The Rapper's Magnificent Coloring Day in Chicago, Illinois. I so wanted to go but I attended a festival of love better known as Chris & Melody's wedding!!! (It was so beautiful by the way).

So, since I'm sure I'm not the only one who missed out, Eryka gave us a little bit to hopefully look forward to next year.

IMG_6255.JPG
  • Chance being Chance and wonderful. It's amazing seeing how far he's come and that he's able to do this for his city
  • A dope ass line up and surprise guests that LITERALLY kept you on your feet
  • Listening to a FULL stadium singing in unison
  • Experiencing it with friends who know when you say you're going to Chicago for Chance they know you'll do it whether or not somebody is with you so they tag along for the ride!

#eyeADVENTURE | Las Vegas Is For Grown A$$ Kids

image.jpg

No, really, there's more to do than gamble and eat at the many buffets I learned. I mean I had a feeling there was because more than 603,488 people live there and I'm sure they don't gamble daily, or maybe they do. But going back to Las Vegas I had expectations of fun and it ended up being fun on Fleek!

Besides having the best food, courtesy of Chef JKL; she made fresh Brussel sprout and meatless meat tacos when I first arrived, then we went to Sprout's aka The Club! But let's get jiggy surviving the 115 degrees weather like a real G I went to the pool tanned, attempted to hop the gate to get in the pool (shout out to D), played Heads Up at the Davis Party, it was a very LIT week. Yes, I could have done most of that in Tennessee but not really.

image.jpg

Next, it was adventure time. Waking up on a Saturday morning and hearing, "Yo, you want to drive to LA today," that was a dream come true, because I hadn't been to LA since I left Arizona. We ended up at a rooftop party at OHM in Hollywood celebrating a birthday then Teedra Moses performs! Just imagine if you had never been to a Teedra Moses show and you've been wanting to go, yes that feeling. Then we went to have some Italian food & next ended up at this Hipster strip club. We drove back from, well JKL did, Jamillah didn't even attempt, I tried but I started sleep talking and I knew that wasn't going to work.

But back to LAS VEGAS...

The Container Park

Yes, that slide.

Yes, that slide.

They all fall down.

They all fall down.

When you have the coolest friends in the world there's no telling where you will end up. In this case I ended up going down a 33 feet slide screaming at the top of my lungs, playing a life sized Connect Four (& fake winning), watching Doo Wop (That Thing) via Lauryn Hill on a huge outdoor screen and playing with Legos. Nope I didn't go to a regular park for children, but rather an adult park filled with other 21 somethings surrounded by great eats and bars. During the entire time in Las Vegas, besides watching seasons of Shameless and visiting the Seven Magic Mountains; I had the most fun there.

Fake, but really winning.

Fake, but really winning.

At night it was still 100 degrees but a nice dry heat that I could stand. I suggest if you're looking for something to do and want to use all of that good energy or you just feel like having a grown a$$ kid moment, visit The Container Park in Las Vegas, Nevada.

TRAVEL | Fleeing The Country, Can't Come Back Where Are You Headed?

image.jpg

A couple of weeks ago I asked you all a question that I was so wrapped around. Not in a bad way just one of those hmm, questions. It was bound to come up because I finally sat down to go through my book, Book of Questions. I was super drawn to this questions and figured hey, let's start a question. I already know my answer but check out a few from my fellow Wanderers:

image.jpg

Everyone here seems to want to JUST BE. I agree.

image.jpg

Some just want a great escape.

image.jpg

Europe and Asia are also getting massive play.

image.jpg

Water is the answer.

So now that you see some of the most illmatic answers, here's mine...

Capetown, South Africa. I've never been but I see beaches and it's always hot and I would like the challenge of starting over and doing something I love and being with a beautiful culture

Question Two On Way. Where would you go?

LIFE | Bonnaroo 2017 Dates Have Been Announced & See What Made 2016 Bonnaroo Really Pop Off

So it's really LIT. No seriously. If you went to Bonnaroo I'm sure you feel like you're liked in sunshine, especially if you're just now using AC (it feels different). But even if you didn't go there's something so special about that too.

image.jpg

If You Didn't Go Start Here

So it's Winter, I'm talking freezing cold (maybe not depending on where you are) but if it's not 90 degrees it's cold to me. I digress, each year since 2012 (never forget Asia when we had the day pass because you have the best customers ever) I have looked forward to another year of freedom, excitement and that community feel you have in college (or school period) that you think will never go away until you graduate.

Now, that you get the feels get why Bonnaroo 2016 made for the relaxation year of Bonnaroo but still left everyone refreshed and appreciative of a good time well spent.

If You Did Go Start Here

Oh My Goodness...so now, Lil Chano from 79th aka Chance The Rapper is Mayor of Bonnaroo!?! He really did four shows, he surprised himself with himself and us!! But let's get to the...

image.jpg
image.jpg

TOP LIT LIST

  • The Trapped In The Closet Sing Along (No really it was a giant karaoke of R. Kelly songs for pregame; next thing you know we're 23 chapters in). "Cuz he's my baby's daddy...daddy...daddy (echo)
  • The Coachella girls next to us. We didn't see them smile until the last day & that was after Jamilah made me socialize with them. They ended up being really cool, this was their first and last time at Bonnaroo.
  • Chance The Rapper surprising himself with us not only once during J Cole's set, not only during Bryson Tiller's set, not only during Miguel's magical set but also at Silent Disco.
  • Waking up naked because it was too hot to put on clothes.
  • Miguel.
  • Hermitude.
  • The Water slide even though we didn't get on it this time.
  • The Amish doughnuts.
  • The Amish pretzels.
  • First feel of air conditioner in the car.
  • Dancing to our own music as we waited for the storm to be over.
  • Eating shrimp and chips twice within an hour.
  • The alarms sounding off everything was postponed until the storm was clear. In that moment we were fake sad because we had SO much faith it wasn't going to last & it didn't. It ended up making for a great moment and giving us a little break.

Ok Pictures cuz it was LIT!! & Oh yea...

LIFE | I Met God Yesterday...

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of a Grandpa; yearning to share his wisdom, but also take on the role of a student. He showed me that opportunity is always around us and "it's up to you to take advantage of it," he said.

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of good eye contact and willingness to listen and let the conversation flow. It showed me that I'm where I'm supposed to be without a doubt.

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of a song. I'm always thinking of my MAMA. I find myself randomly giggling or crying because I miss her juicy hugs. I decided to skip right to Rick Ross' Smile Mama, Smile for obvious reasons (I usually play an album all the way through before skimming to my favorites). As soon as the beat dropped and Ceelo started singing, I felt joy, sadness and warmth all at the same time. But it felt like Ceelo was singing for my heart and my MAMA. It is beautiful.

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of a vivid memory of a picture. My MAMA was so excited for me because she saw a copy of The Source Magazine (my dream since 4th grade to write for/my article was printed). She took a picture of herself (FACIE) holding the copy smiling and texted, "Look what I got." That is forever imprinted in my mind.

I MET GOD YESTERDAY in the form of a feeling. I went to bed feeling confident, warm (yes the heat is on) and safe.

This is not to say I won't ever be sad again or have my moments. It's just nice to feel connected with something bigger than yourself. It felt so good that I woke up thinking I was dreaming.

Thank you God for my MAMA GRANDPA AUNT ALBERTA...you all have forever changed my life.

The Thirst For Coachella 2015 & How It's Inspiring My Next Collection

Once again it's on and better than ever, especially because I'm rolling with my cousin Empress to the 2015 Coachella starring my favorite, Drake (bff in my head). This time last year I was doing visuals for Liebeskind Berlin in Soho, NYC (next to Supreme) on the flagship computer, my phone and ipad on line via the world wide web for Coachella tickets. I finally broke through and got one.

Yes, really I was going to Coachella by myself. Skip to it, my birthday the 110 degrees weather in California was amazing. It was a cool, hot peaceful situation that made me want to move to the westcoast, hence the move to Arizona. Now, back in Tennessee I'm still ready to embark on a fun adventure and also unleash a new collection.

Keep Coachella on your calendar, April 17th around then.

PILLOW TALK

PILLOW TALK: Solo In Mexico

Yes, pillow talk...with every new addition to the EYEPISSGLITTER collection, I want to give you all the story behind it. If you have been following thus far, you know that Hip Hop plays a huge part in my designing and creative process.

solomexico_3.jpg

The 'Solo In Mexico' pillow is one of my favorites. Not only does the pillow scream, resort or a day of relaxation but the adventure behind it was fun.

Just think, you're in New York City and for about two months, you worked everyday. I mean every single day, from open to close. The train, the subway commute, with great music of course, really cute conductors (Ciera can attest to this) but you had to walk through the snow. What kept me sane was knowing the sun would shine again and bright and it was nice working next to Supreme (Eye***) aka my fake boyfriend and dope clothing.

But I needed sunshine and heat, even if it was for one full day. So one day during a break of visually merchandising at Liebeskind, I googled, "hottest place right now", Cancun Mexico came up. Next was Bahamas, but I looked at the temperatures throughout that week and Cancun was the hottest by four degrees. Those four degrees make a huge difference to me. I immediately looked up resort, no kids, Cancun Mexico....the rest is here.

Now, I had been to Mexico before with Tiara (Carmen Sandiego & Dora Explorer), Playa Del Carmen to be exact. But this time I was booking a ticket for Friday and coming back Sunday to work on Monday. I booked the ticket Wednesday. Fast forward, the colors spoke to me, vibrant blues, relaxing white and lovely colors of mint. I was in heaven, even if there were naked forever Young people walking around.

Final Thoughts

I hope 'Solo In Mexico' speaks to your inner adventurous soul and sparks a trip of relaxation. Start with the pillow and you're halfway there.

Get Your 'Solo In Mexico' pillow here.

The Challenge : Coming Up With A Name For My Next Collection

Tempe, Arizona. August 27, 2014.

Time to hit the studio again. The year 2014 has been super good to me. I have had so many dope experiences that I find little things as simple as a scent or as big as a bug to remind me of good times with friends at Bonnaroo, getting in the car and blasting old Lil' Kim and Ruff Ryder songs with my sister or singing Brandy's Best Friend in the car with my Best Friend. Even the sad times losing a dear friend to cancer and finding out my mama is fighting a battle with cancer as well. All of these events, good and bad, are the very essence of what I KNOW will make my collection.

Big Momma.

Big Momma.

I guess after writing this I know the name of my new EYEPISSglitter collection...

The Life Collection.
